Collin May

Born and raised in southern Alberta, Collin is a Calgary lawyer, author, Adjunct Lecturer in Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary, and a former Chief and Commissioner with the Alberta Human Rights Commission.

He holds degrees in political philosophy, religion and law from Harvard University, the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (Paris), Dalhousie Law School, and the University of Alberta.

From 1997 to 2002, Collin worked with the United Nations International Telecommunications Union and the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva, Switzerland.

He has served on a number of government boards and tribunals, including: the federal Judicial Advisory Committee for the Province of Alberta, as a board director with Farm Credit Canada, and as a member of the Council of the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta.

Collin has extensive experience conducting code of conduct and workplace investigations for professional associations, municipalities and corporations. He also facilitates governance reviews for companies and public agencies with specialized expertise in reputational and polarization risk.

Collin managed numerous mediations and wrote over 50 published decisions during his time with the Alberta Human Rights Commission. His mediation practice focuses on estate disputes, wrongful dismissal matters, shareholder dispute resolution, and municipal and agricultural land matters. Collin is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Relying on his extensive expertise and experience, he will work with parties to provide timely and efficient services in the areas of mediation, investigation and governance.
